Prisoner Hamid Emamizadeh was executed today for “premeditated murder” in Parsiloun prison in Khorramabad, Lorestan province. Emamizadeh, 23, who comes from Kuhdasht, Lorestan province, was arrested about three years ago. He was sentenced to death on the charge of “premeditated murder” under the Islamic law of qisas or retribution-in-kind, which grants the victim’s family the right to retaliate.

Iran executed prisoner Ali Mekhan Seyfi, who was previously sentenced to death on the charge of “premeditated murder”, at Dizel Abad Prison in Kermanshah on 12 March. Seyfi, 35, was sentenced to death for “murdering his wife” about two years ago. He was a father of two and came from the village of Mesgareh in Kermanshah, western Iran.

Prisoners Ayat Ali Yari and Sohrab Souri Lakki were executed today in Iran’s Parsiloun Prison in Khorramabad, Lorestan province, over drug-related offences. The two prisoners from Kuhdasht, Lorestan province, were arrested about five years ago and sentenced to death in a joint case. Lakki reportedly escaped from Parsiloun Prison with 20 other prisoners in March 2020 but was arrested after a few months.
